Construction projects follow a chain of communication from one person to the next, from one party to another party. For example, between the architect providing drawings to the contractor and the type of approval that is required in selecting and applying the final coat of paint to a building, there is a very long chain of processes and tasks that need to be clear and precise in order to make these types of decisions quick and accurate. Different people in various roles carry out these types of processes, hence the importance of good communication. If there are any miscommunications or incorrect briefings in the chains of communication between the contractor to subcontractors, architect to the builders, etc. then projects, tasks and activities stand the chance of being completed incorrectly. Why You Need Clear Communication in Construction Projects Maintaining a strong chain of communication in construction will enhance each stage of the construction lifecycle. Below are some of the core reasons why you should focus on a solid communication strategy. Strengthens Relationships Communication helps to strengthen and build relationships in construction projects. Good relationships are key for any successful business operation. This helps to build stronger trust and transparency between all the stakeholders involved. Better Team Management Team management becomes much stronger with good communication. A good project manager should be able to clearly communicate the desired daily and weekly activities to the team. This helps to form a clear roadmap for reaching the desired goal. How to Apply for a Job as a Fresh Graduate Engineer: 1- Always Update Your Resume: Your resume is a dynamic snapshot of your skills, experience, and professional objectives. It is important to keep it fresh. If you've learned a new software program, completed an educational course, or attended an applicable seminar during the time you've been searching for a job, be sure to add it to your resume. 2- Network with Colleagues, Family, and Friends: In job searching, "who you know" is truly important. Your business colleagues, family, and friends together know a lot of people. Make sure they all know you are looking for a job and ask for their help, especially referrals to others who may help. Do they have any business contacts that you could connect with to seek advice or gain a referral? Stay in touch with them every few weeks — out of sight is usually out of mind.
3- Tap into Your Alumni Association: Alumni are a good source of potential job opportunities and typically will go out of their way to help their fellow alumni. Stay active online and join your local chapter. Face-to-face interaction at Chapter meetings is a good way to network. Many alumni form social networking groups on LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter. Join the groups and be visible. Introduce yourself to the group and state your job objectives and ask for help.
4- Work Part Time/Volunteer: What have you been doing since graduation? That question inevitably comes up during an interview. And while searching for a job is a job itself, it's better to demonstrate that you are active doing other things in addition to seeking a job. Take a part-time job. Even if it isn't in a related field of interest, it shows that you are energetic. And since you most likely have college loans to start repaying, no one would question the need to generate at least some income. Volunteering for charitable causes is also a good way to demonstrate your drive and enthusiasm. It is also another great way to meet new people and expand your network.5- Identify Companies of Interest: Don't rely on a job falling in your lap. While you may be lucky enough to find an interesting job posting at a company you'd like to work for, it's more than likely that you'll have to proactively find a job opening at one of your companies of interest. There are many online resources to help you search, like monster.com and job-hunt.org. Use their tools to help you make a list of companies you would like to work for. Search social networking sites, like LinkedIn, for contacts within these organizations. Alert them to your interests and career objectives. Many will be willing to help or refer you to someone else who might help, and once again, you've expanded your network.
6- Expand Your Opportunities: Unfortunately, you might not be able to land your dream job the first time around. Expand your opportunities by searching companies and positions in adjacent industries. You might also consider contract or temporary opportunities. These will strengthen your experience and sometimes lead to full time positions at the end of the contract.
7- Don't Get Discouraged: Easier said than done, but prepare yourself that the job hunt will be a long and often tedious process. Set weekly objectives — i.e. number of applications sent, phone calls, company searches, etc. — and once you've accomplished your goals, take some time for yourself.

Why and When Construction Equipment Should Be Upgraded:
No Construction work can be done efficiently and on high standards without the existence of good equipment, add to this that they add to the labors’ productivity and ensure the project’s smooth delivery.
And here is why construction equipment should be Updated every while and then:
1. Increasing Labor’s Safety:
Despite decreasing Labor’s injuries, construction companies must remain vigilant about Labors safety as a site contains many hazards. Therefore, anything a company can do to improve labors’ safety is a must-do and upgrading equipment will assist in this.
It's tempting to buy older equipment to save on expenses. However, this could end up driving up the cost more as the equipment is more likely to malfunction, causing numerous unplanned for expenses. If someone gets injured, it could lead to an expensive lawsuit.
2. Increasing Project Capacity:
Swapping aging equipment for newer models means your construction equipment will be able to handle bigger jobs. As a result, the project could finish ahead of schedule. As previously stated, upgraded construction equipment will be able to achieve more in less time. Every hour shaved is money saved.
Outdated construction equipment is less efficient in using fuel, which increases your costs. It's slower and requires more upkeep. The older it is, the more care it will need. It could reach the point that maintenance will not suffice and it needs to undergo repairs.Newer equipment improves the quality of work. It’s more likely to execute the tasks exactly as expected. Older equipment that fails will cause delays. Delays often involve penalties.
4. Increasing Uptime:
While upgrading to new equipment involves a large initial investment, it will yield a faster return on investment. Not only does the new equipment increase the chances of getting the work done correctly, but also, it's more likely to last for the duration of the project. Newer equipment allows you to scale and keep up with demand.
Outdated and old construction equipment can break down multiple times on a project. You may not be able to get a licensed technician to come to the jobsite quickly enough. Besides, it may not be possible to repair it on the jobsite or it may not be repairable at all. In either case, it will require renting a replacement. Between the price of repairs and renting a backup, the costs add up.
5. Increasing Employee Morale:
Employees that are challenged and get the opportunity to work with new equipment are happier employees. They're more likely to work harder and more efficiently. You take away the burden of dealing with outdated construction equipment. They're not constantly having to fiddle with it, maintain it, fix it, and whatever else ails the equipment.
The best equipment doesn't work alone. It needs people to operate it. The most skilled construction workers will want to work with current equipment and technologies. Thus, having updated equipment can help you land the best talent.
The Right Time to Upgrade the Construction Equipment:
Asset management software will help identify construction equipment that needs to be upgraded.
1. The equipment can't handle its tasks;

2. You must understand that you will be judged not only on what you know but on what you can do without other people’s assistance. This makes it essential to give your best efforts to your early assignments, regardless of how trivial they may appear.
3. Doing an exceptional job on a minor assignment is the best way to be recognized and assigned more important, challenging, and satisfying work since executives are continually searching for competent people to move up into more responsible positions.
4. Be smart and track your task from A to Z: Make sure to ask as many questions as you can to make sure you can understand and deliver your task on time, and don’t always rely on others to get you what you want and answer you on the spot. industry has played a critical role in responding to the crisis and in the recovery.
The industry represents 13 percent of global GDP, and unlocking currently
constrained labor availability could help drive recovery while addressing the most
pressing construction-related needs.
 But as mostly all other industries, construction has also suffered since sites were
shut down, difficulty in importing required materials, Safety and a long list of other
damages.
 Since we all are working the construction industry, and in the engineering field in
general, we noticed these pressing issues ourselves and they certainly affected the
project timeline, labors, and activities which stop for a while at the site as a result

1- Filing letters by site engineers and fresh graduate engineers:
- A description was given to site engineers and fresh graduates regarding the approved way of filing letters directly received from the main office, and how they should follow a certain sequence, put in separate files and arranged according to the subject of the letter.
2- Fresh graduates should participate in following the process of answering letters at their sites, by reminding both site senior engineers and packages’ managers of the letters still pending to make sure they are answered within the period specified in the contract.
3- We stressed on certain issues concerning NCRs (Quality/ Health Safety and Environment Non-Conformance Reports), and explained how they fall under certain engineers’ responsibility in accordance with their specialty.
4- Speaking of RFIs (Request for Information), we pointed out that our site engineers and fresh graduates alike should pay attention to the sequence of the RFIs submitted directly by the Contractor, their reference number and the name of the school, since we are keen to avoid repetition in reference numbers and the relation between the context and the school mentioned in the RFI form.
5- Regarding photos taken at the sites, we reminded everyone to make sure they cover all works done on daily basis, and to pay more attention when receiving guests, (examples: Covering safety procedures each visitor must go through, following the course of the visit step by step and focusing their cameras on every detail discussed, while providing the main office with the main topics discussed throughout the visit).
6- About daily and weekly reports, we expressed how important it is to send them as early as possible since they go through a process that indulge choosing their photos, making sure they are following the same format, and editing sometimes.
7- Providing data required for the monthly report beforehand is also necessary, in order to review them and make sure they are up to date, following all construction work done monthly, and to avoid any possible mistakes in the information provided.

Technology in Construction:
1. Adopting Technology is essential in every aspect of our lives Today, since it
facilitates our daily activities and works. The construction field is not a stranger
when we consider technologies and their usage, since it is one of the biggest
beneficiaries of the computer technology, equipment and tools that technology
offers.
2. But, though very important, adopting technology moves slowly when we are
dealing with construction, and the main reason is the fear of investing in the
unknown, the new, or the not tried before technologies. Contractors thick twice,
if not thrice, when deciding to adopt certain technology in their works, but they
mostly reap benefits faster than sticking to old tools and methods.
3. The reason why technologies adoption in construction is a must are:
- It makes it easier for every person involved in the project to collaborate faster
and more effectively.
- It allows all parties involved to make the best decisions since they will be based
on real information and data.
- Technologies provide easier and faster solution to problems through tools and
equipment.
- Technologies, especially through computing system, can make accurate
calculation, help in documentation, and offer a wide range of programs that helps

Managing Quality Control (Before and after Issues arise):
1. Understanding what completing a job means: This includes completing the
project with no defects, ensuring work requirements and conforming to the
Employer specifications.
2. Have an inspection plan: Conduct a thorough inspection to see if completed work
meets the quality acceptance criteria. A plan should be conducted to decide what
is inspected and when it should be inspected.
3. Preparing a quality control checklist is essential to make the process of inspection
thorough and less likely to overlook items. We should always be specific. The
checklist should be shared with co-workers, and exchanging ideas is also
important when it comes to how work should be executed.
4. When you discover a deficiency and fix it, this doesn’t mean that work is over.
We must review the reasons behind the defects and discuss with your team how
to avoid repeating them. The conclusion then should be shared with co-workers
to make sure the issues don’t show up elsewhere

Documentation in Construction (Planning Ahead):
1. Documentation is easily defined as the best tracking practice of every single detail
related directly to everything revolving around construction’s projects. Thus it should
be considered, prepared, and made into a bullet-proof plan before projects are started.
2. Preparing beforehand is considered every party’s safety net, since it preserves rights,
duties, and also help in tracking and solving issues that may emerge important during
the project period or even later in time.
3. It is really helpful to document project progress in a chronological way, including
minutes of meeting, on-site reports (photographs, videos, weather conditions and
progress reports), requests for information and responses, schedule updates and
applications and certifications for contractor payments.
4. According to the above, we should implement a user-friendly document management
system and ensure it is executed the correct way, and that’s by reading and
understanding the contract and specifications of the project before starting. This will
give a clear idea about what to track, where and when, and with time a whole data base
of work done and still under construction can be referred to any time, which will
facilitate other important issues as well, such as payments, managing materials, and
best way to execute designs and shop drawings

How to be a Qualified Site Engineer:
The primary roles of a site engineer are to oversee and supervise construction projects, as well
as provide specialist advice in the planning, co-ordination and technical aspects of the project.
They manage material and human resources throughout and are responsible for site
security/health and safety.
In order to be a qualified site engineer, you should learn and sharpen the following skills:
1. Management skills: From the safety of the construction site, to the workforce, materials
and strict project timescales, site engineers manage a variety of different elements in
the execution of a project.
2. Problem solving: Unforeseen problems are likely to arise, so you need to be able to
quickly and effectively overcome difficulties to avoid missing deadlines.
3. Negotiation skills: Site engineers should be able to negotiate the best prices for
materials, important issues and problems at hand to reach a satisfying resolution.
4. Team work, communication and organization: Understanding the necessity of team
work is the first thing a site engineer must work on, since the lack of team work will
ensure total failure.
5. Writing and analytical skills: Site engineers are required to produce progress and other
reports and so they need to have competent written skills.
6. Minor but also necessary (Physical fit): Site inspections can be physically demanding
(climbing ladders, stairs, and taking tours inside or around the project area), so site
engineers need to be mobile and have a reasonable level of fitness

Administrative training session:
1- Filing letters by site engineers and fresh graduate engineers:
- A description was given to site engineers and fresh graduates regarding the approved way of filing letters directly received from the main office, and how they should follow a certain sequence, put in separate files and arranged according to the subject of the letter.
2- Fresh graduates should participate in following the process of answering letters at their sites, by reminding both site senior engineers and packages’ managers of the letters still pending to make sure they are answered within the period specified in the contract.
3- We stressed on certain issues concerning NCRs (Quality/ Health Safety and Environment Non-Conformance Reports), and explained how they fall under certain engineers’ responsibility in accordance with their specialty.
4- Speaking of RFIs (Request for Information), we pointed out that our site engineers and fresh graduates alike should pay attention to the sequence of the RFIs submitted directly by the Contractor, their reference number and the name of the school, since we are keen to avoid repetition in reference numbers and the relation between the context and the school mentioned in the RFI form.
5- Regarding photos taken at the sites, we reminded everyone to make sure they cover all works done on daily basis, and to pay more attention when receiving guests, (examples: Covering safety procedures each visitor must go through, following the course of the visit step by step and focusing their cameras on every detail discussed, while providing the main office with the main topics discussed throughout the visit).
6- About daily and weekly reports, we expressed how important it is to send them as early as possible since they go through a process that indulge choosing their photos, making sure they are following the same format, and editing sometimes.
7- Providing data required for the monthly report beforehand is also necessary, in order to review them and make sure they are up to date, following all construction work done monthly, and to avoid any possible mistakes in the information provided.

The Importance of Communication in the Construction Industry:
Construction projects follow a chain of communication from one person to the next, from one party to another party. For example, between the architect providing drawings to the contractor and the type of approval that is required in selecting and applying the final coat of paint to a building, there is a very long chain of processes and tasks that need to be clear and precise in order to make these types of decisions quick and accurate. Different people in various roles carry out these types of processes, hence the importance of good communication. If there are any miscommunications or incorrect briefings in the chains of communication between the contractor to subcontractors, architect to the builders, etc. then projects, tasks and activities stand the chance of being completed incorrectly. Why You Need Clear Communication in Construction Projects Maintaining a strong chain of communication in construction will enhance each stage of the construction lifecycle. Below are some of the core reasons why you should focus on a solid communication strategy. Strengthens Relationships Communication helps to strengthen and build relationships in construction projects. Good relationships are key for any successful business operation. This helps to build stronger trust and transparency between all the stakeholders involved. Better Team Management Team management becomes much stronger with good communication. A good project manager should be able to clearly communicate the desired daily and weekly activities to the team. This helps to form a clear roadmap for reaching the desired goal. Strong communication skills from the site team to management will mean that there is a better understanding of the state of the project and the direction it needs to take. It will allow management to implement proactive and protective measures in-lieu of correctivemeasures if anything should happen on site. This is crucial as it leads to more accurate and efficient projects. The better the communication is, the more confident the team becomes. Having a more open and transparent system in place allows the team to understand exactly what they need to do. When challenges arise, open communication allows for the sharing of solutions. This means that teams can solve problems quicker. Ultimately, this leads to a team that is better equipped for the job and happier to take on the workload. Improved Collaboration and Feedback With good communication channels, you also enhance collaboration and creative innovation. Team members can share ideas and experiences for others to learn from. This helps to inspire stronger ideas and better collaboration on finding the best solutions for projects. Communication leads to feedback. Feedback loops allow you to track performance and understand where there is success and where there are issues and concerns. Being able to communicate the strengths and downfalls of a project is one of the best ways to learn. By doing so, you can improve your strategies and tactics for future projects. Ultimately, transparency and strong communication results in a better outcome. Results are best achieved through good communication systems. They keep everyone involved on the same page, updated, and aware of deadlines and goals.
Competitions

In complementation to the training program to the site engineers and the fresh graduate engineers within (SKEP III) project whether supervision or construction engineers, it was beneficial to add the competitions into the program aiming of:

First: Studying the extent to which training programs increase the knowledge and efficiency of engineers.

Second: Providing an opportunity to the engineers to benefit from training programs to develop their knowledge and continuous efficiency.

Accordingly, two competitions were held since the beginning of the work in the project where “Trigon” contributed to preparing questions for both competitions, and foundations were established for the approval of the winners of these competitions so that the winner to achieve the following:

  1. Answering right of 70% of questions as a minimum.

  2. Getting the highest mark out of the applicants. In case of the two highest marks being equal or by one-mark difference, the first two applicants shall be considered winners of the competition.    

The winners shall be given certificates in addition to gifts from our office presented to them within a ceremony.

First competition titled “Health, Safety and Environment Quiz 1” was held on November 19, 2020 in participation of six site engineers and fresh graduate engineers from the supervision staff and Contractors staff.
The winner of the said competition was the site engineer of “Hay Al Iskan School” Eng. Islam Obaidat- supervision staff.
Eng. Islam was honored at a ceremony with the presence of Chief of Party at CMTO, Michael McGovern and HSE Engineer at CMTO, Odai Tawalbeh.

Second competition titled “Health, Safety and Environment Quiz 2” was held on September 18, 2021 in participation of twenty-four site engineers including fresh graduate engineers from the supervision staff and Contractors staff.
The winners of the said competition were the site engineers of “Um Al-Dananir School” Eng. Sadam Baqaen and “Al-Khansa’ School” Eng. Qais Lataifeh- supervision staff.
The two engineers shall be honored in a special ceremony in our office shortly. We would like to share the quiz results with you.
